Alien
By: Adam C.

Many critics would classify Alien as a Science Fiction movie.  Others would classify this as a Horror/Suspense movie.  I would classify this movie as one of the greatest movies of all time.  I love everything about this movie. First you have a great cast, which includes some big names during the late 70's and early 80's such as Tom Skerrit, John Hurt, and Harry Dean Stanton. As well as Sigourney Weaver, who would go on to be a leading female hero in film history. Second, you have a great story, which is about a group of space explorers who receive a distress call on an unknown planet only to stumble upon an alien life form which is brought back aboard their ship. That's when all hell breaks loose as the alien evolves and begins killing the crew members one by one. The third and final thing I love about this movie is the fact that this movie keeps you gripping your seat wondering what's going to happen next.  Director Ridley Scott keeps the audience in a suspenseful mood during the entire film. This is the only movie I can think of where I still get scared no matter how many times I've seen it, especially the famous scene when the alien bursts out of John Hurt's stomach.  That scene makes me jump every time I see it. You pretty much have a general idea of what I'm going to rate this film. (which would be 5 out of 5) If you don't think Alien is one of the scariest movies of all time, I'd like to see you prove me wrong.
