The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
By: Adam C.

This is the original version of this movie before it was redone by Michael Bay.  Inspired by a true story, five teenagers set out to find an old home only to be in the clutches of Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen) and his sadistic and twisted family.  I bought the VHS version after hearing that this was one of the scariest movies of all time.  After inserting the tape in the VCR, I was expecting a scary thriller with intense blood and gore, but I was getting into all sorts of things when I first watched it.  I found this movie to be more graphically disturbing then scary.  Certain death scenes in the movie made my skin turn a ghastly white.  And the last big scene in the movie almost made me turn the movie off in order to race to the bathroom on time.  One thing I did realize from watching this movie was the Rob Zombie totally ripped off this movie in favor of his House of 1000 Corpses movie.  Despite lacking a plot, this movie did happen to scare the living piss out of me.  This factor helps bring the overall rating of this movie to a 4 out of 5.  I haven't seen the newer version of this movie yet, but I guess you'd be better off seeing the original first if you want to have an idea of what to expect when you go see the newer version.
